On behalf of the Gustine Recreation Department, I would like to thank our sponsors and volunteers who helped with our annual kids’ fishing day Saturday, Aug. 14.

On Saturday morning I lost my wallet with everything in it. It was my fault as I had placed it on the roof of my car getting fuel at the Shell station. I discovered the loss just a few minutes later at Nob Hill when I picked up my purse and noticed the weight was not there. Immediately went back to Subway, but no one turned it in.

I searched, ask folks if they had seen anyone, and spent most of the morning canceling credit cards, checks, police report, etc. I have a list of every account, all contacts, phone numbers, etc. so it made it fairly easy - discounting the punching numbers to get through to someone to report the loss.

On behalf of the Miss Newman Contest, we would like to give a big thank you to Manish Thakkar at Newman Mini-Mart/Shell along with his staff.
