Dinner benefits sports park

A fund-raising dinner on March 6 will benefit the Newman Youth Sports Alliance campaign to build a sports park in the community.

The non-profit organization wants to build a baseball/softball complex on a West Mariposa Street parcel owned by the city of Newman.

The upcoming steak and crab dinner will be held at the War Memorial Building on West Canal in Turlock.

Tickets are $40. The evening starts with no-host cocktails at 6 p.m., followed by the dinner and dance.

A silent auction and prize drawings will also be held.

The alliance is also inviting community members to become involved in the organization.

Youth Redskins registration

The Gustine Youth Redskins are conducting football and cheer registration.

Registration will be accepted Saturday, March 6, from 1-3 p.m. at Perry’s More than Pizza, and at the opening ceremonies of Gustine Youth Baseball on Saturday, April 10, in Schmidt Park.

Fee is $135 per player and $100 per cheerleader. Multiple child discounts, fund-raising and financial assistance are available.

New players are asked to bring a copy of their birth certificate, report card and verification of medical insurance.

Returning players are asked to bring their report card and medical insurance card.

OHS Boosters to meet

The Orestimba High Athletic Boosters will meet tonight (Thursday), at 6:30 p.m. at Pizza Plus.

Election of new officers is on the agenda.

All interested persons are invited to attend.
