I love shrimp. When we go to Phil’s in Moss Landing we order shrimp. When in Louisiana we almost overdosed on shrimp. So to find a recipe that is easy beyond belief and so tasty you keep sneaking back to the pot - well it’s a winner! So if you also enjoy shrimp, here is a great recipe to try.

Salad with a twist

I am always on the look-out for a good salad recipe. Chuck and I both enjoy broccoli salads so this recipe with an Asian twist was definitely a winner at our house. I hope you also enjoy Sesame-Broccoli Salad.

2 heads broccoli, chopped (use stalks also)

1 cup light packed cilantro, chopped

½ cup shredded carrots

Unique dishes may spice up dinner table conversation

Last week I hosted some friends for a little get together. This is the time I like to try out new recipes; in case it isn’t a hit I won’t be stuck with a lot of leftovers. I guess you would call my guests my guinea pigs.....don’t tell them I call them that though! Former Newman resident Pam Raven Mendoza of Stevinson recently sent me a recipe for BLUE CHEESE WALNUT CHEESECAKE  that I had been wanting to try so this was my opportunity. The recipe was so different I knew it had to be good.

Rice pudding a Medeiros family favorite

Recently, at a friend’s funeral reception, I overheard two women standing by the dessert table commenting on the many different bowls of rice pudding as a little bit of “Portuguese heaven.” I laughed at the time I heard the comment but it does seem to be a traditional dish in Portuguese cuisine and I am told that no one does it better than Bernadine Medeiros of Gustine.
