A mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday for Mary B. Santos of Patterson, who passed away Sept. 2 at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was 98.
Mrs. Santos was a native of Arcata, and was a resident of Patterson for nearly 70 years.
She was a homemaker, and worked at Patterson Frozen Foods and Grisez Warehouse.
Mrs. Santos was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson.
She had a passion for cooking sopas for many Portuguese festas. Mrs. Santos was a member of the YLI, IDES, SES, Luso-American Society, UPEC, UPPEC, Patterson FDES and St. Anthony Celebration of Patterson.
She loved the Stanislaus County Fair, and enjoyed baking pies, Portuguese sweetbread and filhoes.
She is survived by three sons, Anthony S. Santos of Gustine, Edward James Santos of Oklahoma and David R. Santos of Patterson; a sister, Rose Mello of Turlock; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio B. Santos, four sisters, Lena Gomes, Velma Correia, Bernice Morris and Eva Leal, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Interment was in Patterson District Cemetery.
Hillview Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
