The trial of the man accused of being the gunman in the 2006 shooting of Newman resident Kris Moon is scheduled to begin Dec. 1 in Stanislaus County Superior Court.

According to a spokesman for the district attorney’s office, 21-year-old Kenneth Easley will stand trial for attempted murder in the shooting, which occurred as a party was breaking up.

The shooting left Moon, a 2005 Orestimba High School graduate, partially paralyzed.

According to the district attorney’s office, the trial will start with any pre-trial motions, followed by jury selection.

The trial could take one to two weeks, estimated prosecutor Nate Baker.

Baker said testimony will most likely begin next Wednesday, with Moon the first to be called to testify.
