Darrell “Darry” L. Capps, 71, of Newman, passed away July 13.
Mr. Capps grew up in Newman and attended local schools. He was a member of the OHS class of 1956.
A celebration memorial service will be held July 26.

The Capps family wishes to Celebrate the Life of their father Darry
Capps. After surviving multiple brain tumor and removal surgeries since
2004, Newman resident, Darrell L. Capps has gone on to his next life.
Darry died Monday, July 13, 2009 at home surrounded by family and
friends.
Darry lived in Newman most of his 71 years. Born April 8, 1938
in Sacramento, CA, Darrell was the first son of Darrell (Jim) L. Capps,
Sr. and Lois Didion Capps. His sister Charlene DiGiorno lives in
Gustine with her husband John (Pete). Darry also has twin younger
siblings Donna Capps Newberry of Sacramento and Donald Capps of Lake
Tahoe. Darry was proud to have many nieces and nephews, great-nieces
and great-nephews who live in several states.
Darry has three children, Susan Heringer, Steven Capps and
Sandra Mello; 2 sons-in-law, Jeff and Tony and one daughter-in-law,
Lisa. He also enjoyed the company and accomplishments of 11
grandchildren and 2 grandchildren-in-laws.
Darry grew up in Newman, CA, attended local schools, after
graduating from Orestimba High School in 1956, he attended and played
football at Fresno City College, then Modesto Junior College and
several trade schools, allowing him a long career as a Machinist and
Mechanic.
After his wife Sheran Lynn Schuman Capps passed away, Darry
became the companion and partner of high school friend, Helen Williams.
Her children, Lori and Jim and their wonderful families became part of
Darry’s family whom he visited many times on the East Coast. Darry made
numerous friends from several hobbies he enjoyed in his life; pilots,
cowboys, athletes, racing and auto restoration enthusiasts and farmers.
A Celebration Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Sunday , July 26th at Diablo Grande in Patterson.
Darry is buried at Hills Ferry Cemetery next to his wife, Sheran.
