Jose da Silva Gonsalves, 75, of Gustine, passed away Oct. 24.

Mr. Gonsalves was a native of Terceira, the Azores.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Santos Gonsalves of Gustine; a son, Roger (Julie) Gonsalves of Turlock; three daughters, Connie (Dimas) Lopes of Los Banos, Mary (Frank) Pires of Elk Grove and Mari (Troy) Hirschkorn of Denair; four brothers, Francisco da Silva of Hanford, Manuel Leonardo of Tracy, Joao Leonardo of Tracy and Antonio Leonardo of Manteca; a sister, Maria Toste of the Azores; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maria Joao Toste Gonsalves, and a brother, Mateus Leonardo.

Visitation will be held today (Thursday) from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles, with a rosary to follow. The funeral mass will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the church, followed by a graveside service in Turlock Memorial Park.

A reception celebrating his life will be held at the Gustine Pentecost Hall immediately following graveside services.
