Newman police will be conducting a “Click It or Ticket” seat belt enforcement campaign through the remainder of November.
Officers will be out in force looking for anybody not properly restrained – drivers, passengers or children – and will be issuing citations for violations.
No warnings will be issued, police said.
“There is absolutely no question that seat belts save lives,” Police
Chief Adam McGill said. “Buckling up will not only save you a heavy
fine, it can also save your life.”
More than 175 local law enforcement agencies statewide and the
California Highway Patrol wil be participating in this year’s Click It
or Ticket mobilization, which started Nov. 17 and continues through
Nov. 30.
Funding to support the campaign is provided by a grant from the
California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration.
