The Lady Warriors came away with two wins in three games in the Turlock Christian Tournament last week as they continued to enjoy early-season success.
Orestimba, after battling through two nail-biters in the opening rounds, put the defensive clamps on Summerville to win their final-round game 36-26.
A 14-6 first-quarter run gave the Lady Warriors an early cushion,
and after scoring just eight points through the middle two quarters
Orestimba put the game away late.
Sarah Spaulding, who was named to the all-tournament team, led
Orestimba with 12 points and Carlee Felber was in double figures with
10. Joelma Sousa chipped in six points, Kristin Moore and Roxanne
Corella each had three and Chelsea Kimball was on the score sheet with
two points.
Spaulding rounded out her performance with nine rebounds and three
steals. Courtney Stettler and Brooke Corgiat each had seven boards.
Central Valley 45, OHS 44 (2 OT)
Orestimba hit several big free throws and timely shots at the end of
regulation and through both overtime periods before coming up one point
short against Central Valley Friday.
“This was probably the best game we’ve played so far,” said Coach
Scott Felber. “We did a good job rebounding, and we only had 12
turnovers. If we play the way we did in this game, we’ll win a lot of
games this season.”
Orestimba battled back from a 19-13 halftime deficit to force the extended play.
Spaulding lit up the board for 17 points. Corella finished with nine
points, Sousa chipped in seven, Corgiat collected six points, Felber
and Kimball each scored two and Stettler added a free throw.
Corella and Corgiat anchored the boards with 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively.
Spaulding blocked eight shots, while Corgiat rejected six.
OHS 33, Escalon 32
The Lady Warriors built a big lead early and held off an Escalon rally for the first-round tournament win last Thursday.

The Lady Warriors overcame a slow start to open their week with a win over host Waterford.
Orestimba trailed 6-4 after a defensive-minded opening stanza, but

Stettler each had nine points, Kimball contributed seven, Corella
