To the editor:

This letter is directed at the person who drove past our home at a high rate of speed driving a green car. Yes, I know there are a lot of green cars, but this one hit our little Chihuahua that was standing by the curb looking for his little brother.

You hit him and then sped away. I know this because a couple of witnesses saw you. I want you to know that my Chihuahua was in surgery for over an hour in order to save his life. Brutus is 6 years old and our best companion.

He is family, and you should be ashamed of yourself for not stopping to see what you could have done.

Instead, two very neat people came to the door and told us what had happened. One woman gave my wife a towel to wrap our little Chihuahua in so we could take him to the veterinarian.

I thank God the doctor was able to save our little dog.

Running over a dog is like running over a human. You have to stop and see what you can do to help the animal. I thank the three women who helped my wife with Brutus, two who were on bikes and another who stopped.

Whoever ran over our Chihuahua is just a plain heartless person. I pray this doesn’t happen to someone you love.
