Raymond J. Lopes, 75, of Newman, passed away Jan. 28 at Doctors Medical Center, Modesto.

Mr. Lopes was born in Gilroy. He lived in Newman for 68 years.

He was a self-employed dairyman.

Mr. Lopes was a parishioner at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Newman.

He belonged to the Newman FDES and was a member of the Holstein Association.

He loved collecting all types of birds, including doves, parakeets and pigeons.

Mr. Lopes was a hard-working, generous and kind man who was deeply dedicated to his family.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Lopes of Newman; two sons, Joseph Brasil (Stacy) Lopes of Crows Landing and Michael Lopes of Newman; three daughters, Juliana (Mario) Berbereia of Delhi, Faustina Lopes of Newman and Sara (Michael) Barcellos of Turlock; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ida Lopes, and a sister, Thelma Rocha.

A funeral mass was held Wednesday.

Burial was in Hills Ferry Cemetery.

Hillview Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
