The Gustine High freshman Redskins were unable to get much going against a strong Hilmar team as the Yellowjackets downed the Redskins 66-33 last Tuesday.

Sage Gill led the Redskins with 14 and Daniel Gardner was in double figures with 10. Dustin Goularte put up four points, Sam Ramsour chipped in three and Royce Hollister also had a basket for the Redskins.

Patterson 52, GHS 36

The Redskins hosted the Patterson Tigers Friday evening and came away disappointed as the Tigers dominated the game from the very beginning.

The Tigers took the game into the half up 25-15 and did not look back from there.

Gustine was unable to answer in the third and Patterson would hold the Redskins back in the final period to take the game 52-36.

Gardner had 10 to lead the Redskins. Gill and Mark DeLaCruz each had had a solid offensive night with eight points, Daniel Ortiz put in four and Ramsour and Goularte were each on the scoresheet with three points.

“This was a tough loss. It’s our third one to these guys and that’s always rough,” Coach Charlie Kothenbeutel commented. “We need to work on defense and on passing, Hopefully we can pull out a win somewhere in the games we have left.”
