On August 12, 2024, Newman FFA started their first day of school with lots of excitement. That afternoon our Newman FFA officers presented at the NCLUSD School Board meeting discussing their vision, upcoming school plans, and the theme of the year which is potential. Our vision is to encourage others to show their full potential throughout the year. The officers did an amazing job practicing their public speaking to the board members. This year, Orestimba was given the opportunity of adding an Ag leadership class, where not only the officers will be planning the events but also other members who want to show their love and passion for the Newman FFA chapter will get to express their voice. The focus is to also work with the school’s regular leadership class to help build and bring back the school culture and spirit. 

On August 26th, Newman FFA hosted a back-to-school fiesta for all students at Orestimba High School. It was a marvelous turn out with fun games and salsa competition hosted at this year's meeting. Our Tri- Rivers Sectional Officers joined us for a fun time. As September is just around the corner, that means Camp Sylvester is also approaching. Lastly, we gave members the opportunity to sign up for a camp in Pinecrest where members get to practice their socializing skills to get to know others and have life lasting memories. They will also be provided with a community service opportunity. With that said, speaking and judging competition sign ups have started up toward the end of August to give members the time they need to prepare for future competition events. 

Upcoming events that we are excited about are the Newman FFA Pumpkin Patch and Car Show for the public for friends and family on October 12, 2024, from 10am to 3pm. We also will be having our annual Fall Pie Sales so look for a Newman FFA student to help support our program!
