In a heartwarming initiative to spread love and joy this Valentine’s Day, the Gustine Traveling Library has partnered with Wish of a Lifetime from AARP’s Cupid Crew campaign to deliver more than 200 roses to seniors in Gustine and Newman. This effort aims to ensure that older adults in the community feel connected and valued during the season.

By joining forces with the Cupid Crew, they are extending their mission to include emotional well-being, recognizing the importance of social connections for seniors.

“We wanted to do something special for our seniors and show them they are not forgotten, especially during this time of year. When we learned about Wish of a Lifetime’s Cupid Crew campaign, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to spread love and brighten someone’s day. Partnering with AARP to bring this to Gustine and Newman allows us to make a real difference, one rose at a time.” Jose Flores, Vice President of the Gustine Traveling Library

Wish of a Lifetime from AARP’s Cupid Crew is a nationwide initiative that mobilizes volunteers to deliver roses and create heartfelt cards for older adults. Since its inception, the campaign has impacted over 750,000 seniors across the country, helping to combat feelings of isolation and loneliness.

“Our seniors have spent a lifetime building our communities, shaping our families, and sharing their wisdom. It’s important that we take the time to remind them they are valued and loved, especially during the holidays when loneliness can weigh the heaviest. A simple rose, a kind word, or a visit can make all the difference in brightening their day. Love and connection are the greatest gifts we can give.” Zachery Ramos, President of the Gustine Traveling Library

Local volunteers from the Gustine Traveling Library will be delivering the roses to seniors in various living communities and individual residences throughout Gustine and Newman. This gesture not only brightens the day of the recipients but also fosters a sense of community and belonging.

Community members are encouraged to participate by creating and delivering Valentine’s Day cards to seniors in their neighborhoods. For those interested, resources and printable card templates are available on the Wish of a Lifetime website.

This collaboration exemplifies the power of community partnerships in making a positive impact on the lives of older adults, reminding them that they are cherished and remembered during this special time of year.
