Newman 4-H win at state rabbit, cavy show

The California State Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association recently held their annual show on March 1 and 2 in Fresno California and Newman 4-H members had an excellent showing.

Julian Leon (pictured) participated in the Cavy show and the Cal-State Royalty competition.  As a participant in the Royalty competition, Leon was named the Cal-State Convention Lord.  Leon went on to receive 14 first place awards and 4 second place honors while participating in the 4-show event, exhibiting his American Cavies.  

Olivia Casey exhibited her Lilac's, placing with 6-1st place awards. Casey also received 2 Best of Breed and 2 Best Opposite Sex of Breed honors.  Brian Casey exhibited a broken mini lop doe, placing with 2 third place awards; his golden palomino entries placed with 1 first, 1 second and was awarded Best of Variety and Best of Breed Palomino.

The small animal project group will be participating in various shows in the coming weeks.
