Newman Library to undergo renovation project

Stanislaus County will be closing the Newman Library for a renovation project.

“Our goal to invest in the life and longevity of libraries throughout the Stanislaus County Library  system continues with the upcoming Newman Library renovation project,” the County said in a news release.

Construction will close the library for an estimated five months while work is done to address Americans with Disabilities Act deficiencies, water intrusion issues, and asbestos abatement in existing floor tiles. These improvements will help us to serve Newman area residents for years to come.

Renovations are slated to begin Dec. 2.

The Stanislaus County Library card works at all Stanislaus County Library locations. The closest branch to the Newman location is the Patterson Library at 46 North Salado.

Library staff have worked with the community to identify a temporary pop-up library for Newman community members to pick up holds and return materials during the closure. A Memorandum of Understanding with the nearby McConnell Center at 1388 Patchett Drive is being finalized. Dates and times will be shared on our website upon approval of the MOU.

The Newman Library is anticipated to reopen in May 2025.

Materials may be returned to any Stanislaus County Library location or pop-up library. During the closure, the exterior book drop in front of the Newman Library will remain available for returns.
