The Native Sons of the Golden West will have their next dinner meeting on Feb. 6 at the Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Gustine. The social hour and cards start at 5 p.m. and dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. with Bingo to follow.

Newman Recreation Co-ed Spring Volleyball League
Registration began Jan. 23 for the Newman Recreation Co-ed Spring Volleyball League.
The six-week league will play Tuesday and/or Thursday nights.
There is a 12 team limit per league.
Participants must be 18 years or older and out of high school.
The cost is $5 per person per league. There is an additional $5 fee for those players living outside the Newman Crows Landing Unified School District.

Gustine Historical Society
The Gustine Historical Society will hold their annual luncheon at Perry’s Pizza at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 28.
Tickets are $12 each and available by calling Pat Conner at (209) 854-3284.
The presentations will include Pat Snoke on Gustine in the 1940s during WW2; Linda Ouse on Gustine in the 1950s and 1960s; and Patt Brach on Wilbur and Irene Gomes, (Patt’s parents).
The Society also has reopened the museum on Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The adult book club meets at 10 a.m. on the first Thursday of the month.
The Teen Manga Book Club is at 4:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month.
The first Thursday of the month is Kids’ Craft Time starting at 3 p.m. and for children 6 to 12 years.
Adult coloring is at 4 p.m. on the last Thursday of the month.

Open your home to a foreign exchange student
World Heritage International Student Exchange Program (WH), a Non-Profit, Public Benefit Organization, is seeking local families to host foreign exchange students this coming school year. World Heritage students come from a variety of countries worldwide: Italy, Denmark, Spain, France, Germany, Ukraine, Japan, Australia, to name just a few. They are between the ages of 15 and 18 years, and they are enthusiastic and excited to experience American culture, family life, school, sports. etc. They also love to share their own culture and language with their host families, who welcome the students into their home, not as a guest, but as a family member, giving everyone involved a rich cultural experience. Host families may be single parents, couples and single persons.
The exchange students have pocket money for personal expenses and full health, accident and liability insurance. World Heritage students are carefully selected based upon academics and personality, and host families choose their student from different backgrounds, countries and personal interests.
World Heritage also offers qualified American students the opportunity to learn another language and culture by spending a school year, semester or a summer with a host family in another country.
