Orestimba 50+ Club

The Orestimba 50+ Club will be having an English Tea Party before the regular meeting on Oct. 4 at noon.  You can dress for the occasion.  The tea is being hosted by Margie Reddy.  The meeting will start at 1:00 with raffle and bingo to follow.  The Club meets at the L.J. Newman Bldg. located at 649 Orestimba Rd in Newman.

 

Car Show and Pumpkin Patch

The Newman FFA is hosting their car show and pumpkin patch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 12.

The event will be at Orestimba High School’s back parking lot.

American Legion Auxiliary

Newman Gustine Garden Club

The Newman Gustine Garden Club will hold their annual event, A Garden of Tables, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the al Goman Center in Gustine.

 

Adult Swim

Adult Lap Swims are open on Mondays and Wednesdays to the public aged 18 and over at this time.  With one lifeguard currently on duty, only 25 spots can be offered at this time. The cost is $4 for adults and $3 for seniors.

Yvonne Lee, of Newman, was the first person from the public to plunge into the pool in Newman on Monday evening.

Cash is accepted at the gate, but guaranteed spots can be made online at: gofan.com.

 

15th Annual NCLUSD Dig Pink Event

Come and support Yolo and Orestimba volleyball as they take on Gustine at the Yolo gymnasium while supporting Breast Cancer Research and the Side-Out foundation.  The game is set for 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Oct. 12. Fall Clean-up

The City of Newman will hold their annual fall clean-up Oct. 7 to Oct. 12. The event is for residents only, no businesses. Residents must bring a city utility bill and their driver’s license.

The clean-up will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. And 7:30 a.m. to 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be located at 1420 M Street. No refrigerators, monitors or televisions.

Household hazardous waste disposal will be from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, oct. 12 at the Corporation Yard at 712 Fresno Street. This is available to all county residents, but no commercial enterprises The load limit is 15 gallons or 125 pounds.

The e-waste disposal will be from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 at the Corporation Yard at 712 Fresno Street. Acceptable materials include televisions, monitors, flat screens, cell phones (remove batteries), cables, PCs, computers, laptops, printers, copiers and fax machines.

The tire amnesty events will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 9 to Oct. 11 and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Oct. 12 at 712 Fresno Street. There is a limit on nine tires per household. No rims or tractor tires accepted.

The shred day will be from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Oct. 12 at 712 Fresno Street. There is a limit of five bags/boxes per household.

 

 

Gustine Museum

The Gustine Historical Society has a new exhibit opening at the Gustine Museum. The exhibit is Gustine’s POW from World War II.

Guests are invited to join the Society as they honor the Gustine veterans that were captured during WWII and the hardships they had to endure. The veterans are: Rudolph Bambauer, Donald Bloom Clarence Nightengale, Jimmy Borrelli, Wilbur Gomes and Frank Farr. The exhibit is ongoing.

The museum is located at 397 Fourth Street on Highway 33. It is open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free. The museum is currently closed on Thursdays because of the ongoing roundabout construction project.

 

Gustine Historical Society

The Gustine Historical Society will hold their annual salad bar luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 23.

The cost is $15.

The luncheon will be at the Al Goman Center.

Take out will be available.
