Fire calls April 4 to April 10

The Newman Fire Station responded to 30 calls for service from April 4 to April 10. The calls included 12 for Emergency Medical Services, two public assists, three vehicle collisions, one mutual aid call, five false alarms, two potential working structure fires, two smoke checks, one illegal burn, one fire out call and one call of wires down.

At 3:31 p.m. on April 9, the Newman Station was dispatched for a smoke check near Interstate 5 and Pete Miller Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a couple of acres of vegetation on fire. The fire crews quickly extinguished the fire, and the cause is under investigation by Cal-Fire. There are no damages or injuries to report.

At 7:21 p.m. on April 9, the Newman Station was dispatched for a mutual aid at the 1600 block of Via Del Pettoruto in Gustine. On arrival, the fire crews found a residential structure on fire. The fire crew assisted as directed and were released. The cause is under investigation, and the damage estimate was not reported. There were no injuries reported.
