The Newman Fire Station responded to 25 calls for service from Aug. 30 to Sept. 5. The calls included 14 for Emergency Medical Services, one false alarm, one trash fire, one structure fire, two vegetation fires and six public assists.
At 9:43 a.m. on Sept. 3, the Newman Fire Station was dispatched to a vegetation fire in the 27000 block of Highway 33. On arrival, the fire crews found a fence line involved. The fire crews quickly extinguished the fire. The damages are $1,500, and there are no injuries to report. The cause of the fire is an unattended unpermitted burn pile.
At 1:25 p.m. on Sept. 4, the Newman Fire Station was dispatched to a vegetation fire in the 4000 block of Fink Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a 2.5-acre area involved and moving at a moderate rate of speed. The crews were able to contain and extinguish the fire rapidly. The cause of the fire and damages are unknown. There are no injuries to report.
