Gustine Fire Station

The Gustine Fire Station, in cooperation Merced Cal Fire responded to 11 calls from Feb. 17 to Feb. 23. The calls included seven for Emergency Medical Services, one vehicle collision, one commercial vehicle fire, one public assist and one structure fire.

The department assisted the rural unincorporated area of Santa Nella with reports of one camper trailer fully involved. No injuries were reported from the incident.

 

Newman Fire Station

The Newman Fire Station responded to 16 calls for service from Feb. 14 to Feb. 19. The calls included 10 for Emergency Medical Services, one public assist, one vegetation fire, one commercial fire alarm, one residential fire alarm, one hazmat alarm and one vehicle collision.

At 1:52 a.m. on Feb. 15, the Newman Station was dispatched for a hazmat call near Edinburgh and Hills Ferry Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a two-vehicle collision, with one vehicle leaking gas and a trailer leaking raw sewage. The fire crews quickly secured the property and managed the scene. The cause of the collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. There were no injuries to report, and the damages were unknown.

At 3:12 p.m. on Feb. 18, the Newman Station was dispatched for a motor vehicle versus a pedestrian near Yolo Road and Fig Lane. On arrival, the fire crews located a juvenile with obvious injuries. The fire crews assessed and packaged the patient for transport. The crews assisted with securing the scene and establishing a landing zone for the medical helicopter. The patient was flown to a regional trauma center. The damage estimate was not reported, and injuries were classified as moderate.
