Gustine Fire Department
The Gustine Fire Department responded to eight calls from March 3 to March 7. The calls included four for Emergency Medical Services, two debris fire calls, one commercial vehicle fire and one commercial structure fire.
The station responded to Gustine High School for a report of a fire, but it turned out to be a false alarm. The station reported that all students and faculty evacuated safely without any injuries to report.
Newman Fire Department
The Newman Fire Station responded to 27 calls for service from Feb. 28 to March 6. The calls included 21 for Emergency Medical Services, one public assist call, one commercial fire alarm, two mutual aid alarm calls, one other type of fire call and one vegetation fire call.
At 6:34 p.m. on March 1, the Newman Station was dispatched for a vegetation fire on Fig Lane and Jensen Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a ¼ acre of light flash fuels were on fire. The fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and the cause was determined to be from an unpermitted burn. There were no damages or injuries to report. The incident was reported to the proper authorities.
At 2:34 a.m. on March 4, the Newman Station was dispatched for a working structure fire on Ash and East Las Palmas Avenue in Patterson. On arrival, the fire crews worked diligently to extinguish the fire. The cause is under investigation by the Stanislaus County Fire Investigations Unit. The damage estimate was not available at the time of the report. There were no injuries to report.
