Gustine Fire Department
The Gustine Fire Department in partnership with CalFire Merced, responded to 12 calls from Feb. 10 to Feb. 16. The calls included six for Emergency Medical Services, two motor vehicle collisions, two alarm calls and two calls for the smell of gas.
Newman Fire Department
The Newman Fire Station responded to 20 calls for service from Feb. 7 to Feb. 13. The calls included 13 for Emergency Medical Services, one public assist, one vegetation fire, one commercial fire alarm, one illegal burn and three vehicle collisions.
At 7:29 a.m. on Feb. 7, the Newman Station was dispatched for a vehicle collision near Crows Landing Road and River Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a solo vehicle off the roadway. The fire crews secured the vehicle and assessed the patient. The cause is unknown, and the injuries were minor. The damages are estimated at $20,000.
At 4:17 p.m. on Feb. 8, the Newman Station was dispatched for a motor vehicle collision near E. Marshall Road and Tulip Road. On arrival, the fire crews located a solo vehicle that rolled off the roadway into a power pole. Fire crews secured the vehicle and assessed the occupants. The fire crews provided traffic control until PG&E and CHP arrived. The cause of the incident is unknown, and the damages amount to $20,000. There were no injuries reported.
At 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 10, the Newman Station was dispatched for an illegal burn near the Nob Hill parking lot. On arrival, the fire crews found a fire in the middle of an open field. The responsible was informed about the City's no-burn ordinance. The fire was extinguished, and the responsible party was reported to the proper authority. There were no injuries or damages to report.
