Newman Fire Department
The Newman Fire Station responded to 31 calls for service from Jan. 31 to Feb. 7. The calls included 21 for Emergency Medical Services, one public assist, three calls to assist other agencies with fires, one natural gas leak call, one vehicle fire, and four vehicle collisions.
At 1:25 a.m. on Feb. 2, the Newman Station was dispatched for a vehicle fire near Eastin Road and Stuhr Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a big rig fully involved off the roadway. The fire crews extinguished the fire rapidly and secured the property. The cause of the fire is unknown, and there are no injuries to report. The damages are estimated at $70,000.
At 12:25 a.m. on Feb. 2, the Newman Station was dispatched for a motor vehicle collision near Eastin Road and Highway 33. On arrival, the fire crews located a solo vehicle that rolled over and was off the roadway. Fire crews secured the vehicle and assessed the occupants. The cause of the incident and damages were unknown. There were minor injuries reported.
