Newman Fire Department
The Newman Fire Station responded to 18 calls for service from March 21 to 28. The calls included 13 for Emergency Medical Services, one vehicle collision, one lock out call, one false alarm, one working structure fire and one illegal burn.
At 4:14 a.m. on March 22, the Newman Station was dispatched for a structure fire in the 1500 block of Sandy Creek Drive. On arrival, the fire crews found a fence involved and worked swiftly to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be spontaneous combustion. The damages are $3,000, and there are no injuries to report.
At 3:05 a.m. on March 24, the Newman Station was dispatched for a motor vehicle collision on Interstate 5 near Fink Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a big rig lying on its side off the roadway. The fire crews worked diligently to secure the big rig and its occupant. No injuries were reported, and the damage was estimated at $10,000.
