The Newman Fire Station responded to 11 calls for service from Nov. 8 to Nov. 14. The calls included three for Emergency Medical Services, two vegetation fires, one trash fire, one vehicle collision, two fire alarm calls and one public assist.
At 9:20 p.m. on Nov. 9, the Newman Fire Station was dispatched to a vehicle fire near Interstate 5 and Fink Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a vehicle fully involved off the roadway. The fire crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly. The cause was determined to be mechanical, and no injuries were reported. The damages are estimated at $58,810.
At 4:44 p.m. on Nov. 11, the Newman Fire Station was dispatched for a vehicle accident near Crows Landing Road and Armstrong Road. On arrival, two vehicles were blocking the roadway, and the occupants were out of the vehicle. The fire crew worked rapidly to secure the vehicles and assess the occupants. The damages were estimated at $28,000, with minor injuries reported.
