Gustine Fire Department

The Merced County Fire Department’s Gustine Station, in cooperation with CALFIRE ran a total of 15 calls from Oct. 13 to Oct. 18. The calls included 12 for Emergency Medical Services, one alarm sounding, one structure fire in the Stevinson area and one hazardous condition when a tree fell onto two cars. No injuries to the public or firefighters were reported.

 

Newman Police Department

The Newman Fire Station responded to 23 calls for service from Oct. 11 to Oct. 17. The calls included 14 for Emergency Medical Services, two vegetation fires, one fire assist call, one other fire call, one illegal burn call and two vehicle collisions and two public assists.

At 10:26 a.m. on Oct. 14, the Newman Fire Station was dispatched to a vehicle fire near River Road and Crows Landing Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a vehicle fully involved and blocking traffic. The fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and secured the property. The cause of the fire is undetermined and the damages are estimated at $17,000, with no injuries to report.

At 9:06 a.m. on Oct. 17, the Newman Fire Station was dispatched to a vehicle collision in the 1400 block of Main Street. On arrival, the fire crews found a building with a broken window. The fire crews helped gather information and secure the property. The cause of the collision was determined to be accidental. No injuries were reported, and the damages were estimated at $2,500.
