Fire calls Sept. 13 to Sept. 19

Newman Fire Department

The Newman Fire Station responded to 31 calls for service from Sept. 13 to Sept. 19. The calls included 18 for Emergency Medical Services, two false alarms, one unknown type of fire call, four vehicle collisions, one assist to another agency, three vegetation fires and one public assist.

At 4:21 a.m. on Sept. 14, the Newman Fire Station was dispatched to a fire-out call in the 1400 block of N Street. On arrival, the fire crews found a commercial building with light smoke showing. The fire crews investigated and found a refrigerator unit had short-circuited. The cause was determined to be equipment malfunction, and the damages were estimated at $6,000. There were no injuries to report.

At 11 p.m. on Sept. 14, the Newman Fire Station was dispatched to a vegetation fire in the 1300 block of P Street. On arrival, the fire crews found an illegal burn in the backyard of a residence. The fire crews had the resident extinguish the fire and advised of the no-burn ordinance. There were no damages or injuries to report.

At 7:56 p.m. on Sept. 19, the Newman Fire Station was dispatched to a collision near Inyo Avenue and N Street. On arrival, the fire crews found two vehicles involved and blocking the roadway. The fire crews assessed the occupants and assisted with debris and hazard cleanup. The damages were estimated at $24,304 and there was one minor injury to report.

 

Gustine Fire Department

The Gustine Fire Department responded to 14 calls from Sept. 13 to Sept. 19. The calls included seven for Emergency Medical Services, on vegetation fire, one vehicle fire, two vehicle collisions and three for alarms.
