A high-speed pursuit of a suspect reported to be armed with a firearm came to an unexpected end when the suspect crashed the vehicle near the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

On July 23, the sheriff’s office received a report of two individuals brandishing a firearm in a vehicle while out near the NASA Airbase in Crows Landing.

The caller provided the license plate of the vehicle the suspects were seen in, which was later determined to have been reported stolen.

Deputies quickly located the vehicle on Crows Landing Road near Fulkerth Avenue. The suspects attempted to evade law enforcement, reaching speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour and driving into opposing lanes, according to the sheriff’s office.

In a twist of fate, the suspects turned onto East Hackett Road where the Sheriff's Office is located, and the vehicle ultimately collided with a power pole. Both the driver and the passenger fled the scene on foot but were apprehended shortly thereafter.

The driver, identified as 18-year-old Angelo Martinez from Riverbank, was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, evading arrest, reckless driving during a pursuit, and resisting arrest.

The passenger, a juvenile, was also apprehended and has been booked into the Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall Facility.

At the time of his arrest, Martinez was wearing a jacket that read, F*** Your Police Department.
