Newman Police

The Newman Police Department received 63 calls for service and reported 137 officer-initiated calls for a total of 200 incidents from Jan. 5 to Jan. 11. There were 20 cases opened and 12 arrests were made. The department issued eight traffic citations, six criminal citations, 12 parking citations and three animal citations. Six vehicles were towed.

Arrests

Jose Jurado, 42, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 6 for driving on a suspended license.

Gina Bass, 60, of Gustine was arrested on Jan. 6 for DUI and DUI of .08 or more.

Jessie Bass, 60, of Gustine was arrested on Jan. 6 for a warrant.

Esaul Venancio Reyes, 38, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 6 for DUI and DUI of .08 or more.

Jose Ortiz Jr., 23, of Gustine was arrested on Jan. 7 for driving on a suspended license.

A 15-year-old Newman boy was arrested on Jan. 8 for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Jose Medrano, 29, of Los Banos was arrested on Jan. 8 for driving on a suspended license.

Miguel Cabrera, 28, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 9 for driving on a suspended license and a warrant.

Rigoberto Cornejo, 44, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 9 for possession of a controlled substance and a parole violation.

An unnamed 44-year-old Newman woman was arrested on Jan. 11 for threatening a crime with intent to terrorize, elder/dependent adult cruelty of intimidation and vandalism.


Gustine Police

At 8:39 p.m. on Jan. 5, the Gustine Police Department took a complaint of criminal threats after a resident of walnut Drive found a threatening letter on his car from a neighbor.

At 9:36 a.m. on Jan. 7, the police department took a report of a stolen Chevrolet Camaro that was stolen some time over night from N. Main Street.

Arrests 

Agustin Munguia Arriola, 34, was arrested at 11:18 p.m. on Jan. 5 in the area of 5th Street and 3rd Avenue for DUI and DUI of .08 or more.

Christopher Lee Jones, 40, was arrested at 12:42 a.m. on Jan. 7 for DUI and a probation violation.

Cody Ryan Monk, 34, as arrested at 10:47 a.m. on Jan. 7 in the 15600 block of Meredith Avenue for evading a peace officer, vehicle theft, driving on a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance.

Juan Aguilera, 42, was arrested at 12:29 a.m. on Jan. 8 in the area of Via Del Pettoruto and Via Jodi for possession of a controlled substance.
