Newman Police Department

The Newman Police Department received 68 calls for service and reported 69 officer-initiated calls for a total of 137 incidents from July 19 to July 25.

The department opened 13 cases and made seven arrests. The department issued 12 traffic citations, two criminal citations and four parking citations. Three vehicles were towed.

 

Arrests

Anthony Aquirre, 82, of Newman was arrested on July 24 for simple assault.

Dominique Alves, 35, of Newman was arrested on July 24 for driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Robert Cruickshank, 37, of Newman was arrested on July 25 for possession of a controlled substance.

 

Gustine Police Department

At 4:07 p.m. on July 20, Sgt. Gilstrap was dispatched to the 700 block of Ash Avenue regarding a person in the area illegally burning items. Gilstrap arrived on scene and located the suspect. Call Fire was notified and Gilstrap arrested the perpetrator and released the person via citation.

 At 2:10 a.m. on July 21, Officer Hollis observed the driver of a silver Honda Civic commit a traffic violation in his presence in the area of 2nd Street. Hollis made a stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver. During the investigation, Hollis determined that the driver was driving under the influence and placed the driver under arrest and the driver was later released via citation.

 

The Gustine Police Department has issued numerous citations related to the temporary truck route.
