Police calls April 4 to April 10

Newman Police Department

The Newman Police Department received 61 calls for service and reported 72 officer-initiated calls for a total of 133 incidents from April 4 to April 10. There were 10 cases opened and two arrests were made.

The department issued 11 traffic citations, two criminal citations and one parking citation. One vehicle was towed.

 

Vandalism

A tire on a Chevy Tahoe was slashed on April 6 in the 1500 block of Main Street.

Auto theft

A 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 pickup truck was reported stolen sometime during the night of April 6  to April 7 from the 1500 block of R Street. The reporting party said a sound system worth an estimated $20,000 was stolen. The police department has asked neighbors to review their surveillance cameras.

Auto burglary

A Lenovo Thinkpad laptop and a 100-pound punching bag were stolen out of 2018 GMC Yukon on April 8 from the 700 block of Orestimba Peak.

 

Arrests

Eduardo Parra, 33, of Newman was arrested on April 8 for a warrant.

Alessandro Diaz Villanueva, 24, of Newman was arrested on April 10 for a warrant.

 

Gustine Police Department

Auto burglary

An auto burglary was reported at 5:09 a.m. on Aril 4 from the 1400 block of Portsmouth Lane.

 

Municipal code violations

The Gustine Police Department enforced several municipal code violations over the previous week, with 22 incidents, according to the department’s call bulletin. The violations ranged from abatement issues, abandoned vehicles and unpermitted yard sales, among other violations.

 

Arrests

Abraham Barajas Ramirez, 32, was arrested at 11:59 p.m. on April 4 in the area of South and Elm avenues for a warrant.

Maria Fernanda Melendez Vazquez, 26, was arrested at 10:47 p.m. on April 6 in the 300 block of Meredith Avenue for a misdemeanor charge of inflicting corporal injury on a child.
