Police Calls Aug. 2 to Aug. 8

Newman Police Department

The Newman Police Department received 73 calls for service and reported 91 officer-initiated calls for a total of 164 incidents from Aug. 2 to Aug. 8.

There were 17 cases opened and made 12 arrests. The department issued 12 traffic citations, six criminal citations, one municipal code violation, and five parking citations. Four vehicles were towed.

 

Vandalism

Three minor boys were cited for vandalism charges after the illegal fireworks they were using caught a fence on fire in the 1300 block of S Street on Aug. 5.

 

Arrests

James Hall Jr., 45, of Newman was arrested on Aug. 2 for driving on a license suspended for DUI.

David Arnds, 35, of Phoenix was arrested on Aug. 3 for a warrant.

Wesley Gonzalez, 29, of Newman was arrested on Aug. 4 for driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Jesus Arturo Rodriguez Diaz, 63, of Gustine was arrested on Aug. 4 for a warrant.

William Bosshard Jr., 33, of Stockton was arrested on Aug. 4 for burglary, vandalism, conspiracy and petty theft.

Two 13-year-old Newman boys and a 12-year-old Newman boy were all arrested on Aug. 5 for causing fire of property.

Armando Sanchez Jr., 39, of Los Banos for hit and run.

 

Gustine Police Department

At 4:23 a.m. on Aug. 1, Officer Alvarez was investigating a domestic issue at the 700 block of Sycamore Avenue. During the investigation, Officer Alvarez observed the suspect in a vehicle at the residence, with the vehicle still running. Officer Alvarez determined that the suspect was DUI and placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect was cited and released.

At 10:50 p.m. on Aug. 2, Sgt. Gilstrap observed the driver of a gray Honda Accord commit a traffic violation in his presence in the area of Highway 33. Sgt. Gilstrap made a stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver. The driver was cited for driving with false registration tabs.

At 9:12 p.m. on Aug. 4, Officer Hollis was dispatched to the 400 block of 5th Street regarding a domestic dispute. Office Hollis arrived on scene and placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect was later booked at the county jail.
