Newman Police Department

The Newman Police Department received 57 calls for service and reported 87 officer-initiated calls for a total of 144 incidents from Aug. 9 to Aug. 15.

There were 11 cases opened and six arrests. The department issued nine traffic citations, one criminal citation, one Newman Municipal citation and one parking citation. Four vehicles were towed.

Arrests

A 26-year-old unnamed Newman man was arrested on Aug. 9 for domestic violence.

Luis Medina, 33, of Delhi was arrested on Aug. 10 for driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Jimmy Delacruz, 36, of Newman was arrested on Aug. 10 for a court order violation.

Rigoberto Cornejo, 45, of Newman was arrested on Aug. 10 for possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a warrant.

Caden Crook, 19, of Oakdale was arrested on Aug. 15 for obstruction/resisting a peace officer and disorderly conduct.

Gustine Police Department

At 9:33 p.m. on Aug. 10, the driver of a silver Honda Accord committed a traffic violation in the presence of Sgt. Gilstrap in the area of East Avenue. Sgt. Gilstrap made a stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver. During the investigation Sgt. Gilstrap determined that driver had a warrant for his arrest. In addition, the driver was driving on a suspended license as well as in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe. Sgt. Gilstrap placed the driver under arrest and later released the driver via citation. The vehicle was stored.

At 9:11 p.m. on Aug. 15, Sgt. Gilstrap observed the driver of a gray Toyota Camry commit a traffic violation in his presence on South Avenue. Sgt. Gilstrap made a stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver. During the investigation, the driver was found to have a warrant for his arrest. Sgt. Gilstrap placed the driver under arrest and the driver was later booked at the Merced County Jail.

Arrests

Clemente Olide, 41, was arrested at 9:29 p.m. on Aug. 15 in the area of West and Wallis avenues for a warrant.
