Newman Police Department

The Newman Police Department received 47 calls for service and reported 98 officer-initiated calls for a total of 145 incidents from Nov. 8 to Nov. 14.

The department opened 13 cases and made six arrests. The department issued 10 traffic citations, one municipal code violation, four parking citations and towed two vehicles.

 

Arrests

Nathan Powell, 41, of Newman was arrested on Nov. 8 for being a public nuisance.

Urbano Garcia, 31, of Newman was arrested on Nov. 13 for DUI and DUI of .08 or more.

Gabriel Ruiz, 18, of Newman was arrested on Nov. 14 for possession of 28.5 grams of cannabis and  warrant.

Vandalism

A Plus Plumbing on 4th Street reported on Nov. 8 that someone cut a bracket on a gate, folded over the fence and stole approximately 80 feet of copper.

Arrests

Brian Julian Taylor Gutierrez, 19, was arrested at 10:04 p.m. on Nov. 8 in the area of Sycamore and South avenues for DUI, DUI of .08 or more, child abuse with possible great bodily injury and vehicle code violations.

Abran Diaz Gonzalez, 35, was arrested at 3:02 a.m. on Nov. 9 in the area of 5th Street and 5th Avenue for possession of unlawful paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

Oscar H. Martinez Campos, 23, was arrested at 10:35 p.m. on Nov. 10 in the area of Highway 33 and Borba Road for DUI and DUI of .08 or more.

Allan Leonard Rios, 40, was arrested at 11:07 p.m. on Nov. 13 in the area of 5th Street and 3rd Avenue for failing to appear on a felony charge.
