Newman Police Department

Activity Report

The Newman Police Department received 69 calls for service and reported 141 officer-initiated calls for a total of 210 incidents from Oct. 25 to Oct. 31.

The department opened 20 cases and made nine arrests. The department issued 11 traffic citations, one criminal citation, seven parking citations and two animal citations. Five vehicles were towed.

 

Arrests

Eric Andrade, 25, of Merced was arrested on Oct. 25 for a warrant.

Ashley Traylor, 36, of Hilmar was arrested on Oct. 30 for driving on a suspended license.

Enrique Mendoza, 40, of Newman was arrested on Oct. 30 for carrying a concealed dirk r dagger and possession of burglary tools.

David Anderson, 66, Newman was arrested on Oct. 31 for possession of a controlled substance.

Robert Vincent, 65, of Newman was arrested on Oct. 31 for a warrant.

Activity Report

Auto Burglary

A theft was reported on Oct. 30 from a home on North Avenue. The caller stated tools and a toolbox were stolen out of the trunk of a 2015 Honda Accord. The caller woke around 2:20 a.m. and found the trunk open.

Auto Burglary

On Oct. 30 a theft was reported from a home on Via Del Pettoruto. The caller stated he left his truck unlocked and someone came along and stole items from it.

 

Arrests

Jessie James Bass, 61, was arrested at 8:52 p.m. on Oct. 26 in the 1400 block of Edith Drive for a warrant, obstructing a peace officer and failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

Sandy Mendoza Ahumada, 39, was arrested at 12:09 a.m. on Nov. 1 in the 300 block of 6th Street for obstructing a peace officer and disorderly conduct.

Jesus Cardona Marquez, 38, was arrested at 12:09 a.m. on Nov. 1 in the 300 block of 6th Street for obstructing a peace officer, disorderly conduct and a warrant.

Sehydicitaly Gutierrez De La Cruz, 34, was arrested at 12:09 a.m. on Nov. 1 in the 300 block of 6th street for obstructing a peace officer and disorderly conduct.
