The Newman Police Department made two arrests last week of people suspected of selling narcotics.
The first incident happened on Nov. 5, when Newman Police Officer Pasillas initiated a bicycle stop for a violation of the California Vehicle Code.
The bicyclist, Savannah Saldivar, 36, of Newman, was found to be on searchable probation. A probation compliance search of her residence in Newman was conducted. During the search, approximately 11 grams of suspected methamphetamine was located, as well as other items indicative of narcotics sales.
Saldivar was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The second arrest came on Nov. 7 when Officer Pasillas initiated a welfare check of a subject found slumped over near the roadway in the 700 block of Driskell Avenue.
The subject, David Anderson, 66, of Newman, was found to be on searchable probation. A probation compliance search was conducted of Anderson’s property, at which time more than two ounces of suspected methamphetamine was located.
Anderson was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales.
