Have a cup of coffee with Gustine Middle School's principal
Coffee

There’s something great about a freshly brewed cup of coffee that makes conversations flow smoother. Gustine Middle School is getting ready for their monthly Coffee with the Principal event at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, at Gustine Middle School.

This Friday marks another opportunity for parents to sip, chat, and connect with Gustine Middle School’s Principal Peter Duenas.

Duenas, beginning his second year as principal, and 27-year long employee of the Gustine Unified School District, is not just a principal, he’s a community builder. The laid-back coffee sessions provide an open forum atmosphere for parents to interact.

“It’s our time that we meet with our parents, we put out information about the school, conversations,” said Duenas.

The event is not just about coffee. It’s a space for communication. Parents are encouraged to bring their questions, suggestions, and thoughts, creating a place where everyone’s voice can be heard. Duenas believes that strong communication is the key to a thriving school community.

The upcoming meeting is set to cover important topics, including the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California also known as ELPAC. Parents will have the chance to gain insight on the school’s performance, comment feedback, and their perspective progress of the educational experience for students.

“It’s advisories. We let them know what’s going on in the school. And they are also a place to bring up something that parents would like here,” said Duenas.

Duenas does have an agenda for the meetings. In addition to the ELPAC, the gathering will touch upon staff promotions within the school. Recognizing and celebrating their achievements. Also, this Friday, Duenas will touch on Chromebook policies, so that parents are up to date.
