The 2nd Annual Career and Apprenticeship Expo was held Feb. 21 at the OHS gymnasium. Over 40 booths featuring trades and careers to inspire students for the working world after graduation ranged from pile drivers and military, to tattoo artists and published authors. All students from OHS, Yolo AVID, and Westside Valley HS had opportunities to visit with their classes as well as during lunch to chat with people who work directly in that field. Joel Roberts (pictured here) from the National Elevator Industry Education Program challenged students to take apart and put back together a hydraulic elevator control valve. With double the amount of booths from last year, the growth of opportunities are blooming as event coordinator and OHS librarian, Brittney Clark looks to hosting the successful event again in the years to come.
