election

As of 11 a.m. on Wednesday, preliminary results in Gustine and Newman local elections show decisive leads in several key races, though the outcomes remain subject to change if additional votes are counted or adjustments are made.

Gustine City Council Race (Vote for 2):

With 100% of precincts reporting, Mark D. Melville leads the field with 407 votes, followed closely by Blake Mitchell Giles with 396 votes. Laura Lopez trails with 299 votes, while write-in candidates garnered a total of 10 votes. Melville and Giles currently look poised to secure the two available council seats. Their positions, however, may shift depending on any last-minute updates or additional vote counts.

Gustine Unified School District, Area 4:

In the race for Area 4 on the Gustine Unified School District Board, Andrew Bloom leads with 103 votes, surpassing Loretta Rose, who has received 75 votes. No write-in votes were recorded. Bloom’s lead indicates a probable win, but any updated results could alter the final outcome.

Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District Board Races:

In the race for Area 3, Lyzette Gonzalez is significantly ahead with 337 votes (64.19%), while Scott K. Schaa has received 188 votes (35.81%). Meanwhile, in Area 4, a close contest has emerged as Derek Wach and Matthew Harden each hold 210 votes (36.11%), while Mario A. Martins has 100 votes (23.87%). Gonzalez’s lead suggests a likely win in Area 3, while the tie in Area 4 may necessitate additional measures to determine the final winner.

Newman City Council Race (Vote for no more than 2):

The race for two seats on the Newman City Council sees Gisel Pimentel in the lead with 1,248 votes (49.70%). Matthew L. Harden follows with 677 votes (26.96%), while Laroy McDonald has received 586 votes (23.34%). At this time, Pimentel and Harden appear to be the top choices for the council seats, though any future updates in vote tallies could impact their standing.

These preliminary results offer a snapshot of the election standings as of 11 a.m. on November 6th. With all precincts currently reporting, candidates and voters alike await any potential updates or final counts that could affect these close races.
