The final results for the local elections in Gustine and Newman have been tallied, showcasing a close race for several key positions in both cities.
Gustine Results
In the race for City of Gustine Mayor, Patrick “Pat” Nagy emerged victorious with 1,564 votes, defeating the write-in candidates, who collectively received 88 votes.
For the Gustine City Councilmember positions, Blake Mitchell Giles and Mark D. Melville tied with 815 votes each, securing their seats on the council. Laura Lopez received 672 votes, and write-in candidates garnered 20 votes in total.
In the Gustine Unified School District, Area 4, Andrew Bloom claimed the seat with 218 votes, defeating Loretta Rose, who garnered 156 votes. Three votes were recorded as write-ins.
Newman Results
In Newman, Casey Graham ran unopposed for Mayor, securing all 3,060 votes cast in his favor.
For the City Council, two seats were up for grabs. Gisel Pimentel won with 2,138 votes (50.32%), followed by Matthew L. Harden with 1,159 votes (27.28%). Laroy McDonald came in third with 952 votes (22.41%).
In the City Treasurer race, Mary M. Moore also ran unopposed, receiving all 3,044 votes.
For the Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District Board, the Area 3 seat was won by Lyzette Gonzalez with 636 votes (66.74%), defeating Scott K. Schaa, who received 317 votes (33.26%). In Area 4, Derek Wach narrowly won with 368 votes (48.74%), followed closely by Matthew Harden with 197 votes (26.09%) and Mario A. Martins with 190 votes (25.17%).
The election results highlight active civic engagement in both cities. The newly elected officials will now prepare to address key issues facing their communities, from infrastructure improvements to education reform and community safety.
