The Gustine Lions Club is thrilled to announce its annual Rib-O-Rama event, set to take place on Aug. 3. This beloved community gathering, initiated by Tommy Homen, a dedicated member of both the Lions Club and the California Waterfowl organization, has become a cornerstone of local fundraising efforts.
Homen, renowned for his work in organizing dinners to support waterfowl habitat preservation, brought his passion for community service to the Gustine Lions Club. His vision was to create an event that not only brought people together for a delicious meal but also generated funds to support the club's extensive community projects.
Joe Oliveira, a proud Lions Club member, shared the origins of this cherished event. "Tommy wanted to give back and help the group raise funds to continue their incredible work," Joe explained. "From supporting local 4-H groups to donating to the Gustine Recreation Department and taking on significant projects like the new overhang at the Al Goman Center and the new kitchen at the Petersen Center, the Lions Club is committed to enhancing our community."
The Rib-O-Rama is more than just a fundraiser; it's a celebration of community spirit. The highlight of the event is undoubtedly seeing the community come together to enjoy a meal while supporting the Lions Club's initiatives. Oliveira emphasized the importance of this support, saying, "Through supporting the Lions Club, you're supporting projects being done in your community, like the work at Lions Park downtown and the new snack shack at the little league park for our youth."
This year’s Rib-O-Rama promises to be another memorable occasion, with all proceeds going towards funding the club’s various projects throughout the coming year. "It takes a community to get these projects done," Oliveira noted, "and through your support, we're able to continue our work."
Tickets for the Gustine Lions Club Rib-O-Rama are available now. Flyers for the event can be found online, and tickets can be ordered by contacting Joe Oliveira at (209) 620-4024.
