Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System is now offering free roundtrip passes to college and university students who are traveling from Merced and Mariposa to Yosemite National Park.
To obtain their ticket, individuals must submit a simple application along with proof of enrollment in a post-secondary institution. College and university students who reside in Mariposa or Merced County and commute to their school via Highway 140 may also apply for a free 31-day commuter pass.
“We are excited to offer our first free-fare program to these hard-working, young adults who are looking to explore Yosemite,” said Serenity Anderson, Transit Director. “We know college students seek affordable travel options, as limited finances often put luxuries, like travel, out of reach, despite their desire for outdoor experiences remaining strong. This program offers them a convenient and practical solution to visit one of the most iconic National Parks in the country.”
Both the vouchers and commuter passes are available through December 31, 2025 or until all funds are expended. This program is paid for through a Low Carbon Transit Operations Program grant from the State of California.
