 Betty C. Amescua, 89 of Gustine passed away on Wednesday, December 18th at English Oaks in Modesto surrounded by generations of family.

Betty was born in Los Angeles, California and was a resident of Gustine for over 45 years. She worked in varies positions at Sunsweet, Tri Valley Growers, and Frito Lay.

Betty’s house on Sherwood Dr. in Gustine was always a hub of social activity. On any given day, friends and family gathered to cook, socialize, and celebrate special occasions. Summer afternoons could find Betty on her backyard patio watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren splashing around in the pool and calling to her to watch them do tricks on the slide and diving board. She is remembered as generous, kind, and forever fun.

Betty is survived by her sons; Edward Amescua (Martha) of Newman and Rick Amescua (Barbara) of Goodyear, Arizona; daughter, Nancy Butler of Charleston, South Carolina; sister, Vangie Ramirez (Tony) of Newman; 7 grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren, and dozens of cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was welcomed into heaven by her husband, Edward Gutierrez Amescua; granddaughter, Angie Butler Melendez and brothers, Joe Castaneda, and Benny Castaneda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, December 30th at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Newman. Interment to follow at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella. Family and friends are invited to attend the services.
