Evelyn Dorothy Dixon, 85 of Newman passed away Friday, December 22nd at her residence.

Mrs. Dixon was born in Patterson, California on December 14th 1938 and was a residence of Newman for the past 64 years. She was a homemaker for most of those years while having a small antique shop in town. She was a parishioner of St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Newman and member of the Women’s Altar Society. She also spent many years teaching Catechism to the local children in the parish. 

She is survived by her sons Gilbert (Mary Ann) Dixon of Fallon, Nevada, and Alvin (Mary) Dixon of Paso Robles, California and daughter in Jaw Michelle Dixon of Turlock, California; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She also survived by sisters Dolores Souza of Newman, Eleanor Ferreira of Turlock, Bell Lopes of Patterson, and brother Henry Homen of Hughson. Evelyn is proceeded in death by her husband Donovan Dixon of Newman, and son Kenneth Dixon of Turlock. 

A Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00am, at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Newman, followed by a Rosary/Mass of Christian Bural at 10:00 am, Monday January 8th at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Newman. Interment to follow at 12:30 pm at San Joaquin Valley Nation Cemetery in Santa Nella.
