Jose Servin-Arevalo Sr, 83, of Newman, CA peacefully parted ways on December 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. 

He was born in 1940 in Atacheo, Michoacan, Mexico, and was raised in a family of 13 children. A lifelong provider, he began working at eight years old to support his parents and siblings. 

As a teenager he ventured to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream bringing along his wife of nearly 60 years, Esperanza Garcia de Arevalo. He worked tireless hours in the fields to support his own growing family. Jose had a tremendous sense of humor, a love of M&Ms and Diet Mountain Dew, and a rebellious spirit. He loved building things by hand, taking his children on road trips, and eating dinner with his family. 

Jose is survived by his wife, Esperanza Garcia de Arevalo; children, Esperanza Arevalo, Rudy Arevalo, Jose Arevalo and Viviana Plata; grandchildren, Mikey Sanchez, Ricky Arevalo, Alyssa Arevalo, Anthony Arevalo, Maribel Arevalo, and one great-granddaughter, Lainey Camacho. He is reunited with his parents, Jesus and Maria Arevalo; children, Maria Arevalo, Jose Luis Arevalo, Yolanda Escatel and his loyal German Shepherd, Butch, in heaven 

A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm followed by a Rosary at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, January 3rd at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Newman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 4th at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Newman. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman.
