Maria Victoria “Vicky” Rita-Alamo, 84 of Gustine passed away, surrounded by family, Thursday, October 31st at her home in Gustine.
Maria was born on April 23, 1940 to Joseph and Maria Rita in Corvo, Azores. She immigrated to the United States with her parents and siblings in 1958. Upon arrival in the U.S., the family settled in the town of Dos Palos. Maria lived in Dos Palos and worked at the Tops Yarn Factory and Johnnies Cleaners in Los Banos until 1975, when she was introduced to her husband of 49 years, Melvin Alamo. They were married on April 12, 1975. Maria moved to Gustine to join Melvin on the family dairy. They had their first born, Walter Joseph in 1976 and their second child, Adelaide Maria in 1979. Melvin and Maria ran the family dairy until 2010.
Maria enjoyed visiting with her family and friends, and was an avid cook. She was known for her ability to make her delicious Portuguese Sweet Bread and Portuguese Flozes. She always had a dish f food ready to be served to whoever stopped by to visit.
Maria was a parishioner of the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine and a member of the Portuguese Society of America.
Mrs. Rita-Alamo is survived by her husband, Melvin Alamo, son, Walter (Alicia) Alamo and their children Clayton and Ashlyn Alamo; daughter Adelaide (Christopher) Etheridge, their children, Austin, Avery and Audrey Etheridge; brother Joe (Kathy) Rita; brother-in-law, John Pacini; brother-in-law Eugene (Emily) Alamo; sisters-in-law, Shirley Alamo, Carmina (Bill) Mattos and Mary (Jerry) Culwell and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Alamo was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Maria Rita, sisters, Gean Pacini, Carmen Sousa, brothers-in-law, John Sousa, Joseph Alamo, David Alamo and George Sousa; sister-in-law Mary Alamo and niece Melissa Meideros.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 am, followed by a Rosary and Mass at 10:00 am, Thursday, November 21st at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman.
