Rose Marie Borba passed away at her home on February 26, 2025, she was a life-long Newman resident. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ed Borba and is survived by her sons, Ed and Bob and brother, Frank Bello.

Rose was born in Merced, California on December 4, 1938, to Frank and Katherine Bello, as the eldest of three children. After graduating from Orestimba High School in 1957, she married and traveled to Europe with her husband as a result of his military service, living for a short time in Metz, France. Returning to Newman in 1964, Rose participated in many community activities and was a longtime member of the Newman Historical Society and Newman Women’s Club, as well as the Newman Senior Citizen’s Club and Gustine Senior Citizen’s Club. She was also very active in the local Catholic church, assisting with cleaning and ironing of the church linens. After her husband’s retirement, the couple spent many years experiencing the joys of an RV lifestyle, making new friends and exploring new places. Rose was a caring and generous person, known for her festive holiday dinners for friends and extensive family, as well as helping others in their time of need.

A Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at St. Joachims Catholic Church in Newman. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery.
