Scott Thon left us suddenly at the early age of 54 on July 5th due to health complications. He was born to Myron Thon and Dianne Thon at the Newman Westside Hospital Highway 33. Scott grew up and lived most of his life in Newman. As a child he spent time working on the family dairy milking the cows, played every recreational sport, and had a passion for playing the drums in band. Scott was an outstanding athlete as it showed through his High School years at Orestimba. 

He worked at Pizza Plus, Simon Newman Feed & Covanta Energy till he moved to Coeur d’Alene Idaho for 10 years and started his family in Spokane, WA. Scott was known for being a one-of-a-kind friend, the life of the party and a hard-working family man. Scott later finished his remaining 25+ years back in Newman and continued working at Covanta Energy. Scott dedicated his life being a father to Jada and Kanyon Thon and absolutely cherished being a grandfather to Imrie, Zepplyn & Aubree Obando.

Scott had a passion for sports, music, cooking, fishing & making his famous “Thonmatoes”. Many who knew him would say he was funny, strong, hardheaded & deeply caring.

He was a son, father, and grandfather that lived a short life but warmed many hearts. His memory will be cherished and survived by his father, Myron Thon; two children, Jada Thon Obando Kanyon Thon and (son-in-law) Hunter Obando; three grandchildren, Imrie, Zepplyn and Aubree Obando.

A mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, July 19, 2024 at the St. Joachims Catholic Church in Newman. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery, Newman.
