The Gustine Reds picked up their third and fourth consecutive wins with a sweep of Modesto Christian last week, keeping the Crusaders off the scoreboard in both games.

In the April 16 game, Gustine beat Modesto Christian 12-0. Considering the Reds have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexander Quezada ignited the Reds’ offense, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Frank Silveira also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season. Blake Vaz went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.

Gustine started the game with a run in the first and one in the third but it was the fourth when their bats really caught fire as seven runs were tallied up. The Reds scored three more in the fifth then the game was ended for the mercy rule.

Jake Campbell pitched all five innings for Gustine, striking out  an impressive 12 batters and not walking a single player. Only two hits were tallied during his time on the mound.

The game on April 17 was almost a repeat, with Gustine notching up 11 runs and keeping Modesto Christian scoreless.

Quezada was just as stellar on the mound. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Silveira made another big impression with a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Silveira's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Lucas Malone went 1-for-2 with one run, an RBI and a double.

Gustine pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

Gustine will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Stone Ridge Christian at 4:00 p.m. on May 1.
